Frequently Asked Questions

What tape formats do you accept?

We digitize VHS, VHS-C, Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV tapes. If you have another format, contact us and we'll let you know if we can help.

How long does the process take?

Standard turnaround is 7-10 business days from when we receive your tapes. Rush service is available for an additional fee.

What format will my digital files be in?

Your videos will be delivered as MP4 files, which are compatible with virtually all modern devices including computers, phones, tablets, and smart TVs.

Will I get my original tapes back?

Yes! We'll return all original tapes to you along with your digital files (or USB drive / DVDs if ordered). They can also be securely disposed of upon request.

What if my tape is damaged or won't play?

We can often repair tapes that are stuck, jammed, or have minor damage. We use professional-grade equipment and handle every tape with the utmost care. However, many tapes are decades old and can be fragile or deteriorated. While we'll do our best to safely transfer your footage, we cannot be held responsible for tapes that break or are damaged during the transfer process due to their age or condition. Basic repairs are included; more extensive repairs may incur an additional fee.

How do I receive my digital files?

You can choose to receive a secure download link (free), have files saved to a USB flash drive ($10), or pick them up locally if you're in South Jersey.

Is there a minimum order?

No minimum! Whether you have one tape or a hundred, we're happy to help preserve your memories.

What's the difference between Standard, HD, and AI Upscale?

Standard: Clean digitization with basic deinterlacing and color correction at the original resolution.

HD Enhancement: Advanced QTGMC processing for smoother motion and cleaner image, upscaled to 720p.

AI Upscale: Machine learning enhancement for improved detail and clarity, upscaled to full 1080p HD.

Do you offer pickup service?

Yes! We offer free local pickup in South Jersey for orders of 5 or more tapes. For smaller orders or if you're outside our area, you can mail your tapes to us.

How much does shipping cost?

You'll pay to ship your tapes to us (typically $10-$20 via USPS Priority Mail). Return shipping is included in your service total. Want to skip shipping altogether? Choose our digital download option - you'll get your files via secure link with no shipping needed!

What if my tapes get lost in the mail?

We strongly recommend using a tracked shipping method (USPS Priority Mail, UPS, or FedEx) and purchasing shipping insurance for valuable or irreplaceable tapes. While we handle all tapes with extreme care once they arrive, we cannot be responsible for tapes lost or damaged during shipping. Insurance typically costs $2-5 for $50-100 coverage and provides peace of mind.

Do you return my original tapes after digitizing?

Yes, absolutely! We return all original tapes to you. For local customers, we'll deliver them back at no extra charge. For mail-in customers, return shipping is included in your service total. We can also securely dispose of tapes upon request.

How should I package my tapes for shipping?

Use a sturdy box with 2-3 inches of padding on all sides. Wrap each tape individually in bubble wrap or newspaper, fill empty space with packing material to prevent movement, and include a note with your contact information. Mark the box as "FRAGILE" and always use tracking. Visit our Pickup & Delivery page for complete packaging instructions.
